Our Dementia Choir is always open to new members. We meet every couple of weeks to rehearse at The City Ground, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 5FJ.
New members need to be living in Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City, or the immediate surrounding county areas.
All members of the Choir have received a formal diagnosis of dementia and are at varying stages of the condition. New members will also need to have received a formal diagnosis of a type of dementia.
Choir members need to have a passion and love for singing and music. This doesn’t mean you need to be an ex-professional singer but some current / past experience of being a good performer will help you when we’re performing on stage or in front of a group of people. We are a performing choir so bringing the performance element to life is really important to us.
We are a supportive group that fosters a family orientated environment. All members are welcome and support by their families, friends and carers. Most of all, the room is always filled with love and laughter whenever we meet!
Carers play a vital role in the choir, and we need your commitment to support choir members to attend rehearsals and performers. Carers can be a family member, friend or other carer.
As we’re a performing choir, support is given for transport arrangements and / or other accessibility requirements as needed. Refreshments are always provided at every session. After all, you can’t sing on an empty stomach!
We’re often in the media as a performing choir and members, their carers and families will be asked to participate and record their journey living with dementia. We are aware of the sensitivities around this and will always protect and ensure that this is carried out professionally, with the permissions required and most importantly, with your best interests at the heart of what we do.
If you or someone you know with dementia would like to join the choir, please fill out the contact form below.
We look forward to welcoming you!
